Something Fun!!

So, today I set out to play with the new Stampin' Up! exclusive Matchbox Die. I had pre-ordered it a couple of weeks ago but between club projects, yard work, and a weekend trip I just hadn't had time to play! I have a few birthdays coming up and decided I wanted to do a little something for them. Who doesn't like getting chocolate on their birthday?? So, I made the box, filled it with some Hershey's nuggets and made a matching card. What I love is that it was so easy to do!! I made a collage of the box closed, open, with the card, and the card alone. All products except chocolates (and why doesn't SU sell chocolate?) from Stampin' Up!
Stamp sets: Just Beachy, Birthday Wish
Ink: Versamark, Basic Black, Real Red Marker, Cameo Coral Marker, Summer Sun marker, Tempting Turqouise marker
Paper: Tempting Turqouise, Summer Sun, Whisper White, Pink Flamingo DSP
Accessories: Red Grosgrain, Red Gingham, SU exclusive Matchbox die, Large Oval punch, Scallop Oval punch, Bold Brights brads, glue dots, dimensionals

I have to admit the Pink Flamingo DSP is WAY wilder than anything I'd normally use but a couple of my friends having birthdays soon LOVE these bright colors so I think they will enjoy the things I make for them with this paper.

Matchbox Exclusive die, Just Beachy stamp set, and Scallop Oval punch will be available for order beginning April 1st!!

Color Challenge FRIDAY!!

Yes, it's Friday and it's time for me to host another color challenge over at Stampin' Addicts! I'm really having fun doing this every week. It has helped we stretch my creativity and break out of the rut we all seem to get into when we are paper crafting. This week's challenge is to use: Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Apricot Appeal. I knew when I started working on this that I wanted to use some In Colors with at least one of the Original 48 colors. I picked Apricot Appeal because it's a color I rarely use. The other colors just seemed to match it very well. As always all products are from Stampin' Up!
Stamps: Oval All (Occasions Mini), Sanded Background
Inks: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Markers: Apricot Appeal, Old Olive
Papers: Kiwi Kiss, Apricot Appeal, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch (Occasions Mini), White Organza ribbon, dimensionals. Manhattan Flower Textured Embossing die, Aquapainter, Tangerine Tango Reinker

I hope you'll use these colors to stretch your creativity this weekend. If you do, leave a link in your comment so I can see what you did! Have a great weekend everyone!

Inspired by a Technique Challenge!

Today's technique challenge at Stampin' Addicts is Faux Suede. I've never done this technique before and I'm not sure I did it right, but I tried. All products from Stampin' Up!

Stamp sets: Inspired by Nature, Oval All (Occasions Mini)
Ink: Versmark, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive Markers: Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Large oval punch, Scallop oval punch, Real Red grosgrain, Vanilla large grommet

For this technique you will stamp your image and then crumple up the paper. You will have to really work at it but then you will separate the layers of paper. After you separate the paper, you apply Versamark over the layer which leaves a little sheen to the raised areas.

TGIF and a Color Challenge!

Wow, it's Friday already. We stayed home this Spring Break for the first time in a very long time. We did a lot of yard work as we had beautiful weather and I'm thankful most of the big stuff is done. I host the color challenge over at Stampin' Addicts on Friday's and today's color challenge is: Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst, and Barely Banana. I wanted something spring like and thought those colors were perfect to usher in Spring with! Here's my card and as always, all products from Stampin' Up! While I was doing some spring cleaning, I dusted off this set. Sometimes I get so involved with new sets that my older sets start getting neglected. This is a well loved set, I've used it tons but it had been sitting for quite awhile now. It was happy to come out of the box and play!
Stamp set: Garden Whimsy
Paper: Pretty In Pink, Barely Banana, Whisper White, Tea Party DSP
Ink: Pretty In Pink, Almost Amethyst
Accessories: Fire circle rhinestone brads, Prety In Pink Taffeta ribbon, Ticket corner punch, dimensionals

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Spring!!

Wow, I can't believe this is my 200th post! When I started this blog, I wasn't sure if I'd keep up with it. Between work and my Stampin' Up! business I stay pretty busy. I was glad to do this challenge because I love using vellum on cards. All products from Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Addicts Color Challenge

Today is Friday and that means another color challenge at Stampin' Addicts. I chose some hard colors for me today: Pink Passion, Green Galore and Almost Amethyst. None are colors I use regularly, in fact I use the Bold Brights family even less than the Soft Subtles. However, I enjoy doing these challenges because it does get me out of my comfort zone. Today I chose to use a new set, Three Little Words. I do love this set despite it being double mounted (I however single mounted mine). I was really happy when Stampin' Up! announced a couple of weeks ago that they will no longer be double mounting new stamp sets! They do listen and for that I am so grateful! All products from Stampin' Up! If you participate in this challenge, please upload it in the gallery at Stampin' Addicts (button on the right hand side of the blog) and then come back here and put a link in the comment area so I can check it out!
Stamp sets: Three Little Words, Sanded, Gratuitious Graffiti
Ink: Basic Black, Pink Passion, Green Galore
Paper: Pink Passion, Green Galore, Almost Amethyst, Whisper White
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Pink Passion Marker, Bold Brights Water Color Wonder Crayons, AquaPainter, dimensionals
**White taffeta was dyed using a pink passion marker
I'm looking forward to your creations with this color combo!

Scrapbook Retreat

This past weekend I had the pleasure of going to a great scrapbook retreat put on by the Heart Of Texas Scrapbook Club (http://www.heartoftexasscrapbookclub.com/). I had a fabulous time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. On top of that I got a chance to participate in a sketch challenge, silent auction for a worthy cause (http://www.openmyworld.org/) and many other fun things. I love being a part of this group because of their giving spirit to so many organizations. I invite you to check out the website and see for yourself!

I mentioned the sketch challenge in particular because it was a hard one for me. My friend Jennifer designed the sketch. It required three different pattern papers and three embellishments on a page. I know for many of you this isn't a challenge but I'm a VERY basic scrapper. I rarely use pattern paper and use few embellishments but because I have been trying to broaden my horizons, I accepted the challenge. See below for Jennifer's sketch and my page. I invite you to do your own page based on her sketch and then link to it in your comments.

Have fun and can't see what you do with Jen's sketch!

Mr. Big Shot!

I've written about my grandson, Miguel, before. I love spending time with him and this past weekend he came for a visit. Miguel LOVES to play with my "toys" as he calls them. Toys to him, precious scrapbooking and stamping supplies to me. For awhile he was really into punches but lately, he's been fascinated by my new BIG SHOT! About 2 months ago, he was here and I showed him how to use it. I explained about the "sandwich"--bread, meat, cheese, bread. Of course he thought that was hilarious, BUT he remembered it. When he was here this past weekend, we got it out and I sat him down at the opposite end of the table where I was working and handed him a stack of scraps. He worked tirelessly always repeating, "bread, meat, cheese, bread". And then adding, "watch the fingers." Hmmm, wonder where he heard that from. Anwyay, my friend Paula was hostessing a scrapbook page challenge so I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pictures while he worked. I hope you'll enjoy the page I made using those photos AND all the great stuff he cut out while he was here. He truly is Mr. Big Shot!
